Every working day at 6 o’clock in the morning, the Agricultural Bank of China Tiantai County Pingqiao Sub-branch in Tiantai County, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province always welcomes a familiar figure-Jia Hangui, 54 years old this year. In recent years, he, who has been rooted in the grassroots for 30 years, has become more and more used to going to work early: “I have severe presbyopia, and I can’t read fine print at night, so I come early during the day to ‘make up lessons’.”
Not long ago, a letter of commendation spread from Beijing to the local area, and the low-key Jia Hangui was seen by more people—Jia Hangui provided loans to 265 rural households in a single season in serving rural revitalization. This means that in one working day, he has to handle loan procedures for four farmers.
The background data shows that Jia Hangui basically grants loans to more than 200 farmers every quarter. According to industry insiders, his figures in a single quarter exceeded the annual totals of many of his peers.
Jia Hangui’s hometown is in the mountainous area of Sanzhou Township, Tiantai County. Born in a farming family, he has a lot of affection for farmers. In 2004, having worked as a saver for more than 10 years, he transferred to become an account manager and went deep into the front line of serving farmers.
At that time, the Agricultural Bank of Sanmen County started the work of “whole village promotion” of farmers’ loans. For Jia Hangui, the difficult thing is not the work, but to break through his shortcoming of poor speech in front of the villagers.
Back then, after practicing in front of the mirror, Jia Hangui took the flyer and walked into Yushan Village, Tantou Town, the county, and stood on the podium for the first time. Under the eyes of everyone, he explained to the village cadres and villagers the policy of “whole village credit granting” for farmers’ information filing. “My hands were shaking,” he said.
In the end, Jia Hangui took the village cadres as the first group of people to file farmers’ information and the entry point of “whole village promotion”, evaluated the villagers’ net assets, credit, etc., and established a “credit file” in an all-round way. The work has won unanimous praise from everyone .
In the blink of an eye, 19 years have passed, and Jia Hangui has become more familiar with his work. He usually likes to go to the villages to exchange ideas on rural development with village cadres. For this reason, he bought a car on foot to commute every day, so that he can enter the mountain village to carry out work.
“Hiding” in the mountains, Panaoyang Village is the most remote mountain village within Jia Hangui’s service area. When communicating with farmers on weekdays, he is good at listening to everyone’s expectations for a better life. After a period of stay, he basically found out the situation, and settled more than 10 million yuan of funds for the village in a short period of time, and none of the 60 microloans involved were in arrears.
In fact, Jia Hangui, who is thin and thin, suffers from chronic diseases, and his wife is also in poor health. So he is busy working during the day and taking care of his family at night. However, Jia Hangui, who is used to running around, thinks that he has no time to relax. “We are a unit with the prefix ‘agricultural’, and we must not forget the fundamentals of service. And myself, I just steadfastly helped the rural development and did what an ordinary employee should do.” He said. (Finish)
