The Spring Festival is approaching. In Fengshan Town, Xiaochang County, Xiaogan City, Hubei Province, vehicles returning home from other places can be seen from time to time. The local Taohuayuan traffic post station, the past drivers and passengers rest here to relieve the fatigue of the journey.

This black and white, simple and elegant Taohuayuan transportation station was built from an idle wasteland. Today, this garden-style station integrates leisure, tourism, entertainment and sales of local agricultural and sideline products.

“Post-80s” Zhou Xiao is a college student who returned to her hometown to start a business. After graduating from university in 2011, she worked in e-commerce in Wenzhou, Zhejiang for 8 years. When visiting relatives in his hometown once, Zhou Xiao felt distressed when he saw that the agricultural products that the villagers in his hometown worked so hard to grow had not been sold well, and the purchase price was also very low, so he came up with the idea of returning to his hometown to develop rural e-commerce.

When selecting the site, Zhou Xiao discovered that the Taohuayuan Transportation Station just built in front of his house happened to be rented out. Therefore, she invested more than 200,000 yuan to build the interior of the station into a special agricultural product exhibition hall, displaying more than 70 local special agricultural products such as oil noodles, bean shreds, glutinous rice cakes, and peach gum.

In the packaging area, Wu Xiaorong, a 48-year-old villager, skillfully arranges the packaging boxes. She introduced that she used to do odd jobs outside, but now she has built a transportation station and recruited bosses, and she has this stable job. It takes 10 minutes to walk to work from home, which is convenient for taking care of the elderly and children at home.

Zhou Xiao introduced that, relying on the work processes of picking, sorting, packing, and delivering agricultural products, more than 1,600 person-times of labor services have been solved.

With the help of the network platform, along the road network extending in all directions, the “native goods” from the deep mountains that no one cares about in the past have become best-selling products and sold all over the country. Zhou Xiao said that relying on transportation stations, we will create a circular supply chain of agricultural products that “determines production by sales, promotes sales by production, and integrates production and sales”. In 2022, the sales volume will reach more than 8 million yuan, and the cumulative underwriting will help 30 poverty-stricken households, with an average annual income increase of more than 6,000 yuan.

The idle wasteland is built into a traffic station, which not only facilitates passing drivers and enriches the villagers, but also quietly becomes a multi-functional leisure square. “The post station has become a bright business card of our village.” Said Zhou Xing, a nearby resident. Every evening, many residents come here to take a walk, exercise, and dance in the square. It has become a good place for everyone to relax.

According to Rao Qinxiu, director of the Xiaochang County Transportation Bureau, 18 transportation stations have been built in the local area, and the comprehensive benefits are maximized through the road chief system and rent-based management. (Finish)
